“Dream On” Kathy Seastedt Memorial Fund
Kathy was a 25-year employee of The Resource Center when she passed away unexpectedly in 2008. To honor her legacy, TRC Foundation renamd its Community Support Fund the Kathy Seastedt “Dream On” Fund. The fund makes dreams come true for people with disabilities by providing money for urgently needed items or services. The name “Dream On” was chosen in tribute to the classic song by Kathy’s favorite band, Aerosmith. The “Dream On” Kathy Seastedt Fund had a balance of $35,881 as of 9/30/15.
The Dream On Fund has been able to grow thanks to the efforts of a fun-loving group of people called the Flying Flamingos. The Flamingos get together every so often to run in Buffalo-area events such as the Turkey Trot and the Shamrock Run. When they do, they raise money for local charities, including the Dream On Fund. For the Flamingos, there is a personal connection – group member Andrea Tramuto is Kathy Seastedt’s sister.
“TRC and the clients Kathy worked with was such an important part of her life that I cannot think of a greater way to honor her memory than by giving to the population she believed in, advocated for and treasured,” said Andrea (pictured far right) in explaining why the Flamingos are raising money for the Dream On fund. “Having Kathy as my sister was my greatest blessing. I am overcome with gratitude that I have now been blessed with an amazing group of friends/Flamingos to support her cause and make her proud!”
