Michael J. Raymond was The Resource Center’s Executive Director from 1974 to 1987. Under his visionary leadership, The Resource Center vastly expanded the services available to persons with disabilities in Chautauqua County by developing TRC’s first community residences, initiating a Mental Health program, offering Clinical Services, and securing TRC’s first manufacturing contract with the federal government. Among his many other achievements, Michael engineered TRC’s acquisition of the former Art Metal Company building on Jones & Gifford Avenue in 1975. In 2008, the building was renamed the Michael J. Raymond Center.
Michael had an enduring entrepreneurial spirit and was able to move projects from concept to reality. His efforts brought TRC prominence on the State and National levels.
Michael passed away in 1995. Most of all, he is remembered as a friend and champion of persons with disabilities.
