Your dollars at work!

ConsultingAnthony Trussalo steps out of a taxi as he arrives for work at his job at Red Lobster. For many people with disabilities who want to work, finding and maintaining a job is difficult because of one major obstacle: lack of transportation. TRC Foundation provides money for vouchers that individuals with disabilities can use to get transportation to and from work, medical appointments and social/recreational outings. Because Chautauqua County is a rural area. the voucher program is popular. Unfortunately, TRC Foundation can only contribute limited funds to the transportation voucher program, creating an annual dilemma: the money for vouchers runs out before the end of the year, meaning many people are unable to continue accessing the service.

Ivonne Rivera is all smiles as she fine-tunes straps used to make pouches for the U.S.military. Through Allied Industries, The Resource Center’s manufacturing and employment division, TRC each year provides jobs to hundreds of persons with disabling conditions each year. Monies raised through Laurel Run are used to enhance employment and work training opportunities for adults with disabilities.

ConsultingHaving a child with disabilities can be overwhelming for parents, many of whom are not fully aware of all the services available to them and their child, particularly in the areas of early intervention and educational supports. TRC Foundation provides funds needed to advocate on behalf of parents to ensure that their children receive the services to which they are entitled – services that can prepare them to lead successful, productive lives.
